Ok what I'm posting here now is a working method of emulating the Playstation 2 on your home PC!!
First of all make sure that you don't own a PC that is older than 2 years cause then it will surely break down during the process of emulating such a console...

The second step you'll need to be taking is downloading the emulator. The best one for this (I think even the only one) is "PCSX2" The developers of this application also developed the best up to date PSX emulator so they have a lot of experience. Download the emulator here

http://www.pcsx2.net/downloads.php

After you installed it, run the exe file. The application will open and two windows will appear, one is the console and one is the application menu. You'll get a message that tells you to re run the programm, DO THAT!!!

When you start it the second time there shouldn't appear any more messages!
Now you can decide if you wanna keep the "console" but I made the experience that it is not necessary so you can go to the Options and remove it!

Now you'll need a BIOS which you can get here http://www.zshare.net/download/285997a53bcd/
OR you can get it from the outstanding post indigenous species made in this sub board in which you can find every freakin' bios that exists on this surface  Wink

Extract the bios files and choose the place where you extracted them as source for your bios OR extract the bios files in the bios folder right away!

Remeber to later on always choose the right Bios option whether you're playing a NTSC or PAL game!!
Go to the graphic options and put everything to LOW at first. And try putting it up step by step by analising the game you want to play.

Go to the processor configuration. If you own a Dual Core CPU enable the option Multi threaded GS Mode (MTGS) and Dual Core Mode (DC) games will be much faster with that!
Under frame limiting you have to enable "limit" otherwise the game will run independant from music or animations which is unplayable!!!

Disable the option "enable patches" cause this option will destroy much game feeling. For example in FFX it will automatically skip the FMVs and other cheats!
If you have to define the frame limit yourself put in 50 cause thats the perfect frame rate for this game.

You can play around with most of the options till you have the perfect ones for you!
The emulator still has problems reading DVDs out of your drive so you better feed it with images! For that use deamontools!
If you wanna play a game with this emulator, first go here http://www.pcsx2.net/compat.php?c=key and check the compatibility of your desired game it HAS to be green!

Okay I hope I helped some people with this. If you have any problems write a reply or send me a PM
Have fun

yea
and if anyone doubts the ability of a ps2 emulator to work
here is proof in this post
http://www.download-linkz.com/forum/doswindows-emulator-mega-pack-t1998.0.html

i show screenshots of me playing iron man

though my pc does crash when i play for two minutes
but thats because my pc is not top of the range

there is also an xbox emulator being developed at the minute
though you will need a extremly powerful computer to play
maybe in about 4 years time
a pc will be readily available at average prices that can play it

random emulation fact:
pc needs to be 10 times more powerful than the device your trying to emulate
to emulate efficiently

anyway great post mkb7

The emulator has 2 options which you can turn on if you own a Dual Core PC that will make things a lot easier. I have a Intel Quadcore, 4GB RAM, Radeon 3850 512 MB GDDR-3. I can play the game and it looks better than on PS2 so you will definitely be able to play it Danny!
