No I completely agree. However, I don't just see Butters behaving out of character; I see it in virtually everyone. In the last three or so seasons, just about every character of South Park has had some part of their personality removed or replaced. Some have had complete personality changes; just who the fuck is Randy these days? He used to be an academic, his profession Geology. Now he's just a rambling fool who overreacts to everything.
All the children act like adults now, which is ridiculous! I just wish they would watch season 2 or 3 and remember what South Park actually is before it's lost forever...

I disagree about Randy, he sort of always was a giant idiot.
